    Ahhh! I've seen these for sale, but never heard them called salt pigs. Supposed to keep the salt from clumping by not allowing moisture to settle. Do they really work?

    A salt pig is this ceramic pig with a big wide open mouth that you store your salt in. It usually comes with a ceramic spoon. The purpose is to keep your salt close by for easy access. With spoon or grab a pinch. Ever notice the chef's always keep there salt in a small bowl, not a shaker.

    I too was worried about the humidity causing clumping. Remember I'm on the gulf coast & we keep rice in the salt shaker !! Not a problem with a salt pig!! The ceramic does absorb any moisture.
